Mass murder shootings in the U.S. from 1976 to 2010

This chart is from Time Magazine, "How Guns Won", August 6, 2012 (p.29), which hit newsstands shortly after the Aurora, CO mass shooting.  It is compiled from data from James Alan Fox, criminologist from Northeastern University in Boston and the Bureau of Justice Statistics (a Department of Justice agency).  It is re-printed here, because the image is not listed online from Time.
